Bihar Tourism Department Unveils Two Luxury Caravans for Enhanced Travel Experience

Residents of Bihar can now embark on journeys to explore tourist destinations within the state and across India with unprecedented comfort, thanks to the tourism department's launch of two luxury caravans on Friday. These state-of-the-art vehicles were officially flagged off by State Tourism Minister Arun Shankar Prasad, who personally took a ride during the launch event, marking a significant upgrade in Bihar's tourism infrastructure.

Expanding Fleet and Premium Amenities

With the addition of these two new luxury caravans, the tourism department's fleet has expanded from one to three vehicles, offering more opportunities for travelers. Each caravan is fully air-conditioned and designed to provide a five-star experience on wheels, featuring a bedroom, a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen, and a dedicated dressing area. High-speed 24-hour WiFi ensures connectivity throughout the journey, making it ideal for both leisure and business travelers.

Advanced Security and Design Features

The caravans are equipped with six cameras for enhanced security and have been designed by a company that specializes in manufacturing bulletproof vehicles for the Bihar government. This ensures safety without compromising on luxury. The vehicles were delivered within three months of manufacturing, showcasing efficiency in execution. They come with All India permits, allowing for seamless inter-state travel to destinations like Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Buxar, Nawada, Rajgir, Banka, and the Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve, among others in Bihar and neighboring states.

Luxurious Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, the caravans boast a range of premium amenities. Automatic foldable foot steps facilitate easy entry, while the seating includes four recliners, a three-seater sofa, and four sleeper berths. The recliners are fully automated and can be operated for convenience, with 360-degree movement capability. Each seat has a snack table and motorized curtains that can be opened or closed with a button push.

For entertainment, a 43-inch smart TV is installed, with additional TVs in each sleeper berth in the bedroom area. Mobile charging points are available near every seat, and passengers can coordinate directly with the driver for any instructions or issues. Storage solutions include aircraft-like overhead cabin compartments and under-sofa facilities, along with an emergency exit for safety.

Kitchen and Bedroom Comforts

The kitchen area features a slab with induction facilities, allowing passengers to cook food, complemented by a fridge, microwave, and water cooler. More than four compartments are provided for storing utensils, and a wash basin is available for cleaning. The bedroom can accommodate four people and is decorated with wallpapers depicting various tourist destinations across India. Each seat has an AC vent, reading lamp, motorized curtain, and mobile charging socket. Orthopaedic mattresses on the right side offer comfort for those with back pain, leg pain, or cervical issues.

Bathroom and Dressing Area Details

The bathroom includes a basin and shower area with both hot and cold water, along with a marine toilet designed for efficient water use. A separate dressing area in the bedroom features a large mirror and shelves for cosmetics, adding to the convenience.

Pricing and Booking Information

According to Transport Manager Ratnesh Kumar of the tourism department, the fare is set at Rs 75 per kilometer for a minimum of 250 kilometers. For one-day bookings, the cost is approximately Rs 20,000 per day, with the per-kilometer rate applying for longer journeys. In Patna, a booking option is available for 12 hours and a 75-kilometer journey at Rs 11,000, making it accessible for shorter trips.

The procurement cost for the two caravans totals about Rs 2.18 crore, reflecting the investment in high-quality travel solutions. This initiative aims to boost tourism in Bihar by providing a luxurious and comfortable way to explore its rich cultural and natural heritage.
