Bundelkhand Tourism Summit Aims to Showcase Region's Ancient Heritage
A significant 3-day tourism stakeholders' meeting was organized in Jhansi by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, commencing on Saturday. The primary objective of this gathering was to generate widespread awareness about the rich and ancient monumental heritage of the Bundelkhand region, positioning it as a potential tourist destination comparable to Rajasthan's appeal.
Diverse Participation from Tourism Sector
Approximately 80 individuals actively participated in the comprehensive meet. The attendees represented a broad spectrum of the tourism industry, including tour operators, travel agents, and tour guides, predominantly from New Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Additionally, the event saw participation from hoteliers, homestay operators, representatives from Bundelkhand University, media personnel, and officials from the Ministry of Tourism, the state archaeology department, and the Jhansi Museum.
Heritage Tours and Networking Sessions
On Sunday, delegates embarked on an educational tour to nearby tourist attractions, including Barua Sagar, the city museum, and the historic Jhansi Fort, among other sites. This excursion was designed to deepen understanding of the region's abundant heritage, enabling participants to effectively promote these locations to prospective clients.
The previous day, Saturday, featured a detailed session focused on fostering B2B networking communication among various stakeholders and government officials. A comprehensive presentation was also conducted, outlining the registration process for service providers on the NIDHI portal, facilitating smoother operational integration.
Expert Insights on Tourism Potential
During the summit, Anirudh Rawat, President of the Bundelkhand Travel Agents Association, presented numerous opportunities for travel trade partnerships and strategic initiatives to market Bundelkhand as a key tourism circuit. Concurrently, SK Dubey, former head of the state Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), emphasized the historical significance of the region, tracing its origins back an impressive one lakh years.
Government Commitment to Regional Development
On this occasion, Arun Srivastava, Joint Director-General and Regional Director (North) of the Ministry of Tourism, stated, "The initiative aims to highlight the tourism potential of the Bundelkhand region and strengthen collaboration between tourism stakeholders and government agencies to promote the region as an emerging tourism destination." This statement underscores the government's dedicated efforts to boost tourism and economic growth in the area.
