Delhi Tourism Minister Inspects Yamuna Cruise Vessel in Navi Mumbai
Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra traveled to Navi Mumbai on Monday to personally inspect a luxury cruise vessel. This vessel will soon launch Delhi's first international-standard cruise service on the Yamuna river. The inspection marks a key step in the government's riverfront tourism and recreation plan.
Final Stages of Preparation for February Launch
Minister Mishra confirmed that the construction of the 40-seater cruise is in its final stage. The vessel is scheduled to depart from Navi Mumbai to Delhi on January 20. It should reach Delhi within four to five days.
After arriving in Delhi, the engine will be fitted into the vessel. Mishra stated that the cruise will open for public use in February. This timeline sets the stage for a new recreational option for residents.
Route and Onboard Experience Details
The cruise will operate upstream on the Yamuna river between Wazirabad and Sonia Vihar. Each round trip will last about one hour. The vessel can accommodate 40 passengers at a time.
Onboard facilities will include music, entertainment, and food services. Mishra emphasized that these will be offered at affordable prices. Initially, both individual and group packages will be available to cater to different preferences.
Broader Vision for Yamuna Riverfront Development
This cruise service is part of a larger plan to develop a recreation-and-leisure hub along the Yamuna. Mishra explained that the project will not stop at cruise services.
- Water sports activities are being planned.
- Recreational facilities will enhance the area.
- A full-fledged leisure zone is set for development at the cruise terminal.
The objective is clear: provide an international luxury experience at prices accessible to Delhi's people. Mishra highlighted that this initiative allows Delhi residents to enjoy experiences similar to those in popular tourist destinations like Goa. They can do this without leaving the city.
This development promises to transform the Yamuna riverfront into a vibrant hub for tourism and leisure. It aims to boost local recreation options while promoting river-based tourism in the national capital.
