Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has called for immediate and decisive action against touts operating at popular tourist destinations in Goa, stating that their persistent presence is severely damaging the state's hard-earned reputation as a premier travel destination. A second viral clip, originating from the popular Baga region, purportedly shows another foreign national actively soliciting clients on a public road. Minister Khaunte Vows to Pursue Matter to Its Logical Conclusion
In his address, Minister Khaunte expressed deep embarrassment over the incidents, particularly emphasizing the sight of an international tourist being approached on the street. He stated that such scenes are unacceptable and tarnish the image of Goa as a welcoming and safe destination. I will raise this matter directly with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and ensure it is pursued to its logical conclusion, Khaunte asserted, underscoring his commitment to resolving the issue.
The minister also pointed out a concerning pattern, noting that despite previous efforts, including a change in the leadership at the Calangute police station, touts have managed to return to their activities. We initiated a cleanup operation targeting touts right from the time I assumed office as tourism minister, Khaunte recalled, indicating that the problem is persistent and requires more robust intervention.

Khaunte called on the police department to put their act together and implement more effective surveillance mechanisms at all major tourist hotspots.
