IndiGo Airlines has announced that its flight operations from Kolkata have now returned to normal, more than a week after a significant disruption led to numerous cancellations. The airline stated on Monday that services have stabilized according to its revised schedule.
Kolkata Operations Return to Normalcy
The airline confirmed it is now consistently operating over 100 flights daily from Kolkata as part of its scaled-down schedule. On Monday alone, the carrier recorded 112 departures from the city. An official from IndiGo clarified that while frequency was reduced on routes with multiple flights, the airline did not cut any destinations from its network.
"The airline has not reduced the number of sectors that it operates from Kolkata, either domestic or international," the official emphasized. This means passengers can still fly to all previously connected destinations, albeit with possible adjustments in flight timings or frequency on some routes.
International Flights Remained Unaffected
Notably, during the peak of the operational reset between December 3 and December 6, when the airline grounded approximately 70% of its Kolkata flights, international services were largely protected from the cancellations. The airline made a conscious decision to shield its overseas operations from the massive schedule overhaul.
IndiGo has reported that the majority of its flights departing from Kolkata are now adhering to their published timings, meeting the airline's own on-time performance standards. The carrier also stated that any passengers impacted by delays were notified promptly to minimize inconvenience.
Coordinated Recovery Efforts
Airline officials revealed they are working in close coordination with Kolkata airport authorities to ensure the updated flight schedules are accurately reflected across all customer communication channels. This includes airport display systems, the airline's website, and mobile applications.
On a national scale, IndiGo continues to operate a robust network, flying more than 2,100 flights daily under its revised schedule. This extensive operation connects all 138 destinations within the airline's domestic and international network.
The stabilization of services in Kolkata marks a significant step in IndiGo's recovery from the early December disruptions, aiming to restore full passenger confidence in one of its key operational hubs.
