After a prolonged shutdown due to heavy monsoon rains, the popular Boat Club on the banks of the Ganga in Kanpur is all set to welcome visitors again. The facility will officially resume all its activities on December 9, marking a fresh start for adventure enthusiasts and families in the city.
Official Inspection and Preparations
Senior district officials conducted a thorough review of the site to ensure a smooth reopening. ADM (City) Rajesh Kumar and administrative secretary, along with Neeraj Srivastava, the secretary of Water Sports, visited the Boat Club on Saturday. They inspected the preparations and expressed satisfaction with the restored facilities, giving the green light for operations to restart.
A New Hub for Adventure Tourism
The reopening is not just a resumption of services but the launch of an enhanced adventure destination. Neeraj Srivastava highlighted that the Boat Club is evolving into a significant center for adventure tourism. "Typically, such water-based adventure activities were associated with coastal beaches or locations like Tehri Lake," he said. "Now, Kanpur offers that same thrilling experience right here on the Ganga."
Operators JT Facilities and Jaspal Rana Company, represented by Sheeshpal Kathayat and Wasim Sheikh, announced a major addition. For the first time in the plains of Uttar Pradesh, parasailing will be introduced at the club. This sky-high adventure joins an exciting roster of water sports that includes:
- Jet Skis
- Pontoon Boats
- Motor Boats
- Speed Boats
- Banana Boat Rides
Extended Closure and Unique Ambience
The Boat Club's seasonal closure began as scheduled on June 15 due to the annual monsoon. It was initially slated to reopen on October 15. However, persistent and heavy rainfall extended the shutdown period, necessitating additional time for maintenance and safety checks.
Beyond the adrenaline-pumping activities, the club offers a serene experience. Its cafeteria is perfectly positioned to offer breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the Ganges. The unique riverside ambience provides visitors with a complete and memorable outing, combining excitement with natural beauty.
