Mangaluru Flight Connectivity to Mumbai Region Increases to Six Daily Flights
With the commencement of the summer schedule for airlines on March 29, flight connectivity from Mangaluru to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has significantly improved, now reaching a total of six daily flights. This enhancement includes services to both Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and the newly operational Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI), providing travelers with more options and flexibility during the peak travel season.
Detailed Flight Schedule and Operations
On Mondays and Thursdays, the flight operations to MMR will consist of five flights, comprising two to Navi Mumbai and three to Mumbai. IndiGo is set to operate all flights to Navi Mumbai, while the airline will also manage two daily flights to Mumbai. Air India Express will handle the third daily flight to Mumbai, ensuring a robust and competitive service offering for passengers.
Recent data from Sunday highlights steady passenger movement on the NMI-IXE (Mangaluru International Airport) route. Arrivals at Mangaluru included flight 6E 866 with 94 passengers, 6E 841 with 51 passengers, and 6E 2030 with 108 passengers. Departures from Mangaluru to Navi Mumbai saw flight 6E 832 carrying 128 passengers, 6E 865 with 121 passengers, and 6E 2031 recording the highest load with 165 passengers, indicating strong demand and efficient operations.
Uncertainty in International Flight Resumption
Meanwhile, sources indicate that there is no clarity on when international operations will fully resume from Mangaluru. Both IndiGo and Air India Express have suggested that full resumption may not occur until the end of April, citing the prevailing situation in and around Iran as a key factor. In the interim, Air India Express is expected to operate sporadic flights to destinations such as Jeddah and Sharjah, providing limited connectivity for international travelers.
This development underscores the dynamic nature of air travel, with domestic connectivity seeing a boost while international routes face delays due to geopolitical concerns. Passengers are advised to stay updated with airline announcements for the latest schedules and travel advisories.
