Nagpur Women Lead All-Female Motorcycle Expedition Across Central India
Six women riders from Nagpur are currently revving across Central India as part of a 25-member all-women motorcycle expedition titled 'Queens on the Wheel'. This inspiring journey was launched in Bhopal on International Women's Day, marking its third edition with a focus on promoting women empowerment and adventure tourism.
Flag-Off Ceremony and Official Launch
The expedition was officially flagged off by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at his residence in Bhopal on Saturday. The ceremony saw the presence of Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar along with senior tourism officials, highlighting the government's support for this initiative.
Organized jointly by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and CAC–All-rounder Adventures, the ride brings together a diverse group of women bikers from across India to explore the cultural and historical richness of Central India.
Nagpur's Representation in the Expedition
Representing Nagpur in this empowering journey are:

- Rukmini Punwatkar
- Pallavi Deshmukh
- Ruchika Meghe
- Maithili Singh
- Ekta Khante
These six riders are part of a larger national cohort aiming to foster confidence and independence among women through adventure riding.
Journey Highlights and Cultural Exploration
Following the launch, the riders traveled to the historic Sanchi Stupa near Sanchi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Buddhist heritage. Participants immersed themselves in the site's rich history and architectural significance.
The group then rode through scenic routes in Madhya Pradesh, halting overnight at the Udayagiri Caves, known for their ancient rock-cut temples and archaeological importance.
Insights from a Nagpur Rider
Speaking to TOI while navigating the highways, Nagpur rider Maithili Singh shared her excitement. She has been riding motorcycles for three years and was selected by the organizers for this expedition. "The ride will cover several historic and wildlife destinations including Chanderi, Shivpuri, Kuno National Park, and Khajuraho before concluding in Bhopal," she said.
The total distance of the expedition exceeds 1,400 kilometers, with the final leg covering more than 300 km. From Udayagiri, the riders traveled to Chanderi, staying at the Chanderi Tent City and exploring the town's heritage, including historic forts, temples, and the famous Chanderi saree weaving tradition.

This expedition celebrates adventure, resilience, and women empowerment while showcasing the cultural richness and tourism potential of Madhya Pradesh. The Nagpur riders play a prominent role in this journey, embodying the spirit of female empowerment and exploration.
