Residents and visitors will soon have the opportunity to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and family gatherings on floating jetties and Shikara-style boats. Additionally, religious events like Sunder Kand recitations will be hosted on these water-based facilities, creating a unique spiritual ambiance. Officials have emphasized that the concept is inspired by successful waterfront tourism models in cities like Mumbai and Goa, but has been carefully adapted to maintain the religious sanctity of Prayagraj, known as the Sangam city.
Strict Norms to Preserve Cultural Integrity
To uphold the sacred nature of the riverfront, strict regulations have been implemented, prohibiting non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and tobacco on all river-based facilities. Under the Smart City project, the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has collaborated with Entartica Sea World to develop a new jetty at Kali Ghat, with construction set to commence in the coming months. To further enrich the visitor experience, a variety of water sports activities have been introduced, including speedboats, banana rides, catamaran cruises, and pontoon rides. All activities are conducted by trained professionals certified by the National Institute of Watersports, ensuring safety and quality.
