Ranchi's Last Sunday of 2023 Sees Massive Picnic Rush at Water Parks, Dams & Hills
Ranchi's Year-End Sunday Draws Crowds to Picnic Spots

The final Sunday of 2023 transformed Ranchi into a hub of festive energy as residents from all walks of life descended upon the city's popular recreational spots. Eager to soak in the year-end cheer before the New Year, crowds of families, friends, and young people created a lively, celebratory atmosphere across various destinations.

City Attractions Buzz with Energy

For those seeking convenience within the city limits, several spots emerged as major crowd-pullers. The Aqua World carnival, located opposite Raj Bhavan, witnessed packed crowds since morning, with long queues forming at its entry points. This carnival-style water park, featuring large slides, rain dance zones, and music arenas, provided a perfect quick getaway. "We wanted something close by because of traffic and time constraints. This was convenient and full of energy," shared Abhishek Kumar, a visitor from Doranda.

Similarly, Birsa Munda Fun Park experienced steady footfall, with families and children enjoying various rides and open spaces. Natural retreats like Kanke Dam, Dhurwa Dam, and Tagore Hill also attracted numerous picnickers. Visitors were seen carrying home-cooked meals, portable speakers, and mats to enjoy a peaceful day out. "The weather was absolutely perfect, and these places offer a refreshing break without the need for long travel," said Rakesh Sahu, who visited Kanke Dam with his family.

Outskirts and Natural Wonders See Heavy Footfall

The picnic spirit extended beyond the city's core to its scenic outskirts. Popular tourist destinations like Jonha Falls, Dassam Falls, Hundru Falls, and Getalsud Dam saw a significant influx of visitors not just from Ranchi but also from neighbouring districts. The surge in vehicles heading to Patratu Valley even led to slow-moving traffic along the route, highlighting the day's popularity.

Other established attractions, including the Rock Garden, Birsa Zoological Park, and Nakshatra Van, continued to draw a consistent stream of visitors throughout the daylight hours, completing the city's festive landscape.

A Boon for Local Vendors and Businesses

The widespread celebration proved to be a significant economic boost for local vendors operating near these picnic zones. Many reported exceptionally brisk sales, capitalizing on the high footfall. "Year-end Sundays are undoubtedly the best for business. We sold snacks, tea, and toys almost non-stop," remarked Sunita Devi, a vendor stationed near Rock Garden. The day served as a vibrant conclusion to the year's weekends, blending community joy with local commerce.
