Trichy International Airport Boosts Gulf Connectivity with New Flight Services
In a significant move to enhance air connectivity between Trichy and the Gulf countries, Trichy International Airport is set to add seven new flight services starting from March. This expansion aims to provide better travel options for expatriates and strengthen regional air links.
Air India Express Increases Sharjah and Muscat Services
Airport sources have confirmed that Air India Express will increase its weekly flights from Trichy to Sharjah from seven to ten per week, effective from March 29. This boost in frequency is expected to offer more flexible scheduling for passengers traveling between these destinations.
Additionally, the Trichy-Muscat flight service will see an increase from two to three flights per week. These enhancements are part of a broader strategy to cater to the growing demand for air travel in this corridor.
Indigo Airlines to Launch Trichy-Abu Dhabi Route
Indigo Airlines is planning to introduce three weekly services between Trichy and Abu Dhabi, likely starting from the first week of April. This new route will further diversify the connectivity options available from Trichy International Airport.
Sources indicate that these additional services will provide cost-effective options for expatriates in the Gulf countries to travel back home, making air travel more accessible and affordable.
Requests for Enhanced Domestic and International Connectivity
Trichy MP and airport advisory committee chairman Durai Vaiko has revealed that Indigo Airlines was also requested to increase the frequency of the Trichy-Mumbai flight from three to seven flights per week. This move aims to improve domestic connectivity and support passenger convenience.
Furthermore, the airline was urged to utilize the international-to-international transit facility available at Trichy airport. This facility would assist passengers arriving on Trichy-Jaffna flights in reaching Singapore by opting for Trichy-Singapore services, thereby enhancing international transit options.
A request has also been placed to add services on the Trichy-Hyderabad route, indicating ongoing efforts to expand the airport's network across key destinations.
Overall, these developments mark a positive step towards making Trichy International Airport a more prominent hub for both domestic and international travel, particularly benefiting the expatriate community in the Gulf region.
