UP Launches Rs 74 Crore Tourism Projects in Western Districts

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has intensified its efforts to promote spiritual and heritage tourism in the western districts of the state, launching projects valued at over Rs 74 crore across Bareilly, Badaun, and Kasganj. Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple initiatives on Thursday and Friday, aiming to enhance facilities for pilgrims and stimulate tourism-driven economic growth in the region.

Projects in Bareilly and Badaun

In Bareilly and Badaun, projects worth more than Rs 52 crore were inaugurated. The minister also reviewed the ambitious Rs 60-crore Nath Corridor project in Bareilly, instructing officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing works. Key projects announced in Bareilly include integrated tourism development at Ahichchhatra, ecotourism initiatives at Lilaur Lake, and a Mahabharata-themed Draupadi Swayamvar Theme Park. Additionally, several temple redevelopment projects were launched across the district.

In Badaun, the focus was on the Rs 17.92-crore Kachla Ganga Ghat redevelopment project, designed to improve pilgrim amenities and strengthen riverfront tourism infrastructure. Temple development projects at various religious sites were also inaugurated.

Kasganj Tourism Push

The tourism drive extended to Soron Shukar Kshetra in Kasganj district, where projects worth over Rs 22 crore were launched to upgrade pilgrimage infrastructure and develop Dariyavganj Lake as an ecotourism destination. Officials stated that over Rs 15 crore will be spent on beautifying ghats in Soron, including facade development, improved lighting, gateways, and visitor amenities. Another Rs 3.52 crore has been allocated for ecotourism development at Dariyavganj Lake, with additional funds directed towards tourism signage and wayfinding infrastructure in the pilgrimage region.

This comprehensive initiative underscores the state government's commitment to leveraging its rich cultural and spiritual heritage to drive tourism and economic development in western Uttar Pradesh.
