Indian Navy Training Squadron Arrives in Singapore to Boost Regional Maritime Engagement
The Indian Navy's First Training Squadron made a significant arrival at Singapore's Changi naval base on January 15. This deployment marks a strategic move to enhance maritime engagement with Southeast Asian nations.
Squadron Composition and Mission Objectives
The squadron comprises INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and the Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarathi. These vessels are currently on a training deployment across the South East Indian Ocean Region. The Indian high commission in Singapore emphasized that this visit highlights the growing importance of bilateral ties between India and Singapore.
This deployment forms part of the training curriculum for the 110th Integrated Officers' Training Course. It also represents a notable milestone in India-ASEAN relations. The year 2026 will be celebrated as the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation, making this deployment particularly timely.
Training and Cultural Exchange Activities
