In a significant push to bolster education in a region often plagued by infrastructure challenges, ten Zilla Parishad schools in the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district are set to receive a reliable solar power supply. This initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and backed by the philanthropic efforts of Shloka Ambani's Rosy Blue Foundation, aims to transform the learning experience for approximately 1,470 students.
Powering Education in an Aspirational District
The 'Solar School Project' is designed specifically to provide an uninterrupted power supply for teaching and digital learning activities. For schools in Gadchiroli, a district identified by NITI Aayog as an 'Aspirational District', this move is a game-changer. It seeks to bridge the educational gap by ensuring sustainable, clean, and reliable energy access, directly impacting the quality of education imparted to children.
The project received the official green light on October 31, 2025, when Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, Suhas Gade, approved the proposal submitted by the Rosy Blue Foundation.
Phase One: Focusing on Dhanora Tehsil
The first phase of this ambitious project will see the installation of solar energy units in ten schools located within the Dhanora tehsil. The selected schools include a mix of primary and high schools, ensuring a wide reach. The beneficiaries are Zilla Parishad Primary Schools in Dhanora, Muskya, Salebhatti, Rangi, Nimgaon, Dudmala, Murumgaon, and Bandhona, along with Zilla Parishad High Schools in Dhanora and Mohali.
This strategic rollout will create a foundation for digital classrooms, e-learning tools, and other modern educational technologies that require a consistent power source, which has been a major hurdle in the region's development.
Leadership Applauds Social Initiative
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has publicly praised the initiative, describing Shloka Ambani's commitment to strengthening Gadchiroli's educational infrastructure as highly commendable. He assured that the state government and the district administration would provide their full cooperation to ensure the project's success.
Furthermore, acknowledging the social work of the Rosy Blue Foundation and its volunteer platform 'Connect For', Fadnavis appealed to Shloka Ambani and Maniti Shah, the founder of Connect For, to concentrate their efforts specifically on the Gadchiroli district. This highlights the government's intent to foster public-private partnerships for addressing critical regional challenges.
By harnessing solar energy, this project not only promises to light up classrooms but also to illuminate the future of thousands of young students in one of Maharashtra's most challenging regions, setting a precedent for sustainable educational development.
