Eight days after Pooja, a resident of Ludhiana, went missing while on her way to collect her graduate degree from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Khanna Regional Centre, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the case. Her mobile phone was switched off shortly after she disappeared.
Husband's account of the disappearance
Pooja's husband, Ramesh Kumar, stated that she left home on June 29 to receive her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. When she did not return that evening, he attempted to call her, but her mobile phone was switched off. Ramesh initially searched for his wife on his own. Unable to locate her, he filed a police complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR on the eighth day after her disappearance.
Ramesh suspects that his wife is being held captive by an unidentified person. He emphasised that there was no enmity or grudge against anyone, and the couple had never had a fight. The atmosphere at home was normal.
Family left in distress
The couple has two children: a 12-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter. Both children have been eagerly awaiting their mother's return for the past nine days. Ramesh said, "I have been searching for my wife. I even visited the IGNOU centre in Khanna but found out that she had not arrived there."
Police investigation underway
The Ludhiana police are currently checking the call records of the missing woman. Additionally, CCTV camera footage from the area is being examined to trace her movements. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the circumstances of her disappearance.
