The district administration in Agra has launched a major push to complete the digitization of voter enumeration forms as the Special Intensive Revision program enters its final phase. With the December 4 deadline approaching rapidly, officials are working round the clock to ensure all voter data is properly recorded and digitized.
Administration Deploys Additional Resources
District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari has directed officials to provide booth-level officers with extra support staff to accelerate the digitization process. The administration has also ordered a significant increase in operator strength working in shifts to handle the massive data entry workload.
During a progress review conducted on Friday at the smart city office in the municipal corporation building, the DM closely monitored the digitization center where BLOs, supervisors, and operators are busy uploading enumeration forms collected from households across the city.
Lagging Constituencies Identified
The review revealed that three urban constituencies are showing slower progress compared to others. Agra Cantonment (87), Agra South (88), and Agra North (89) were identified as areas requiring immediate attention and additional resources.
Following this assessment, the district magistrate instructed officials to specifically identify BLOs who are facing difficulties in digitizing collected forms and provide them with necessary assistance. "BLOs who are facing difficulties in digitising collected forms must be assisted," Bangari emphasized during the review meeting.
The DM stressed the urgency of the situation, noting that only seven days remain before the December 4 deadline. He issued clear instructions that extra staff should be deployed to help complete the task on time while ensuring accuracy throughout the process.
Comprehensive Voter Verification Exercise
The Special Intensive Revision in Uttar Pradesh represents a significant electoral exercise, marking the first such comprehensive revision in 22 years. The previous similar exercise was conducted back in 2003, making this a crucial update to voter records.
As part of this massive undertaking, BLOs are visiting every household in Uttar Pradesh until December 4 to verify and update voters' details. The process involves providing voters with copies of pre-printed forms and assisting them in filling out the necessary information.
Each voter has been instructed to sign both copies of the form, affix a recent photograph, and return the completed form to the BLO at the earliest opportunity. This thorough approach aims to ensure that every eligible voter is properly registered and included in the electoral rolls.
Electoral Roll Publication Timeline
According to the Election Commission's detailed schedule, the draft of the electoral roll will be published on December 9. This will be followed by a period for claims and objections that will run from December 9 to January 8.
The hearing and disposal of claims or verification process will take place between December 9 and January 31, allowing sufficient time for addressing any discrepancies or concerns. The final publication of the electoral roll is scheduled for February 7, completing this extensive revision process.
The administration has made it clear that no errors should be made during the data feeding and digitization phase, recognizing the critical importance of accurate voter information for the democratic process. With the deadline fast approaching, all resources are being mobilized to ensure the successful completion of this vital electoral exercise.
