The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp political attack on the Congress party on Friday, as the grand old party faced a near-total wipeout in the Bihar Election Result 2025. The BJP's criticism centered on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, highlighting what they termed as his extensive record of electoral losses over the past twenty years.
A Century of Defeats in the Making
In a post on the social media platform X, accompanied by a detailed infographic, the BJP claimed that Rahul Gandhi has now accumulated 95 electoral defeats in two decades. The party sarcastically noted that he is merely five losses away from a "century" of setbacks. The infographic displayed a map of India, illustrating states where the Congress party has faced defeat since Rahul Gandhi became a primary campaigner.
"While many will call him a 9-to-5 blame-game politician, Rahul Gandhi has now accumulated 95 electoral defeats in two decades, five short of a century," the BJP stated in its post. It further questioned, "Is the attack on India's institutions a diversionary tactic by the silver-spoon scion?"
NDA's Historic Victory in Bihar
The mockery came against the backdrop of a decisive victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The coalition, comprising the BJP and JD(U) among other partners, is headed for a landmark win in the Bihar Assembly election 2025. The alliance has spectacularly breached the 200-seat mark, a figure that surpasses all pre-poll predictions.
As the results were announced on Friday, the NDA had taken a commanding lead in 205 seats. The BJP itself had won and was leading in 90 seats, while its key ally, the JD(U), had secured 83 seats. The performance was bolstered by strong support from Chirag Paswan's LJP(RV) and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
A Rough Scoreboard for the Opposition
In a stark contrast, the Congress party managed to win just a single seat and was leading in only five others. The broader opposition Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Congress and the RJD, was leading in a mere 33 seats.
The BJP's post elaborated on its critique, stating, "And whenever the scoreboard looks rough, there is always a fresh blame target ready to be launched. However, the nation has read the often-used script and knows its FAKE." Adding to the mockery, the party quipped, "If losing were a competitive sport, the trophy cabinet would be full by now."
BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya led the charge online, sharing the same map and writing, "Rahul Gandhi! Another election, another defeat! If there were awards for electoral consistency, he'd sweep them all. At this rate, even setbacks must be wondering how he finds them so reliably."
The electoral battle was also marked by a significant democratic participation, as Bihar recorded a historic 67.13% voter turnout, the highest since 1951. Notably, women voters participated more enthusiastically than men, with turnout rates of 71.6% and 62.8% respectively.
