Congress's Jakaria Ahmed Wins Karimganj North

In the 2026 Assam Assembly Election, Indian National Congress candidate Jakaria Ahmed emerged victorious from the Karimganj North constituency. He secured 1,22,356 votes, defeating his closest rival, Subrata Bhattacharjee of the Bharatiya Janata Party, by a margin of 26,003 votes. Bhattacharjee polled 96,353 votes.

AIUDF's Choudhury Hibbur Rasul Usama Mabrub finished third with 2,038 votes, while Independent candidate Samraj Banik garnered 856 votes. A total of 15 candidates contested the seat, along with the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

In the 2021 elections, Congress's Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha had won the seat by defeating BJP's Dr. Manash Das with a margin of 8,324 votes, representing a 5.7 percent lead.
