The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters list in Delhi will commence with door-to-door visits by booth-level officers from June 30, conducted in a transparent manner, as announced by Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashok Kumar on Wednesday.
Preparation Phase
During a press conference, Kumar stated that training for booth-level officers (BLOs) and the printing of enumeration forms and other necessary documents will take place from June 20 to June 29. These activities form the in-house preparation for the SIR exercise.
Checks and Balances
Kumar emphasized that there are checks and balances at every step of the verification process. Political parties will be involved through booth-level agents (BLAs), and all information will be shared via the CEO's office website.
Awareness and Support
Awareness activities will be conducted, and special camps will be set up to assist voters in submitting their enumeration forms. Each voter will receive two copies of the enumeration form; one copy must be filled out and returned to the BLOs. Voters also have the option to submit completed forms online.
Coverage and Timeline
The exercise covers all voters aged 18 years and above as of the qualifying date of October 1. Over 13,000 BLOs will conduct house-to-house enumeration during the SIR. Every existing elector whose name appears in the electoral roll will be provided an enumeration form in duplicate to fill and return one copy to the BLOs.
Door-to-door visits by BLOs will run from June 30 to July 29. Subsequently, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, and the final electoral roll after the SIR will be released on October 7.
