Allegations of Irregularities
Singh stated that several students have come forward with evidence of the question paper being circulated hours before the exam. He accused the ruling party of protecting those involved and called for the resignation of the Education Minister. The Congress leader also highlighted previous instances of exam leaks, including the UPPSC and JEE scandals, and argued that the NEET leak is a symptom of systemic failure.
Political Reactions
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed the allegations, terming them as baseless and politically motivated. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the government has already taken steps to strengthen examination security and that Singh's claims are an attempt to divert attention from other issues. However, opposition parties have rallied behind Singh, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe.
Student Outrage
Thousands of students across the country have taken to social media, expressing their anger and frustration. Many fear that their hard work has been compromised. In several cities, student unions have organized peaceful protests, urging the government to cancel the exam and conduct a fresh one under strict surveillance. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts NEET, has denied any leak but has not provided a detailed response to the allegations.

Digvijay Singh warned that if the government fails to act within a week, the Congress party will launch a nationwide agitation. He called upon all opposition parties and student organizations to join the protest. The Congress has also planned a march to the Education Ministry in Delhi, demanding a white paper on exam security. The NEET UG 2024 exam, held on May 5, saw over 24 lakh candidates appearing across the country. The leak allegations have cast a shadow over the results, which were scheduled to be announced in June. The Supreme Court has also taken cognizance of a petition filed by students seeking a CBI investigation into the matter.
