Lucknow Voter Roll Revision: 30% of Voters Untraced, Details Revealed
Lucknow Voter Roll: 30% Untraced After Revision

In a significant development following a comprehensive electoral clean-up drive, authorities in Lucknow have managed to successfully trace or account for only about 70 percent of the district's registered voters. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise has revealed a substantial portion of the electorate remains unverified in the updated draft rolls.

Key Findings from the Revision Exercise

The draft electoral rolls for Lucknow district's nine assembly constituencies, displayed publicly on Tuesday, present a detailed picture of the current voter landscape. Out of a total of 39,94,535 registered voters, only 27,94,397 individuals have been traced or accounted for. This translates to a success rate of 69.95 percent.

The remaining 30.05 percent of voters, amounting to nearly 12 lakh people, remain untraced. The breakdown of this untraced segment provides crucial insights into voter mobility and record accuracy. The data shows that 3.21% were reported deceased, 10.8% were absent from their registered addresses, and a significant 13.42% had shifted residences. Furthermore, 1.22% were found to be already enrolled or duplicate entries, while 1.51% fell into other miscellaneous categories.

Constituency-Wise and Demographic Breakdown

The draft rolls were made available for public scrutiny at 4,132 polling stations across 1,556 locations. The constituency-wise details of traced voters offer a granular view of the electoral map:

  • Lucknow West: 3,28,073
  • Lucknow East: 2,92,530
  • Lucknow Central: 2,43,246
  • Lucknow North: 3,07,422
  • Lucknow Cantonment: 2,22,598
  • Mohanlalganj: 2,98,231
  • Malihabad: 3,04,471
  • Bakshi Ka Talab: 3,84,852
  • Sarojininagar: 4,12,974

In terms of gender distribution, the traced voters comprise 14.84 lakh male voters, 13.1 lakh female voters, and 89 third-gender voters. The Sarojininagar constituency recorded the highest numbers, with 2.21 lakh male and 1.91 lakh female voters. In contrast, Lucknow Cantonment had the lowest figures, with 1.15 lakh male and 1.07 lakh female voters.

Next Steps and Important Deadlines

The publication of the draft roll initiates a critical period for public participation in the electoral process. Citizens now have the opportunity to file claims and objections. The window for this is open until February 6. Following this process, the final electoral roll will be published on March 6, 2026.

In a move to encourage timely registration, the Election Commission has also highlighted a provision for young voters. Citizens who will turn 18 years of age on January 1, April 1, July 1, or October 1 of 2026, can apply in advance using Form 6 to ensure their inclusion in the final electoral roll. This proactive measure aims to bring first-time voters into the democratic fold seamlessly.

The results of the Special Intensive Revision underscore the dynamic nature of urban electorates and the continuous challenge of maintaining accurate voter lists. They also serve as a crucial call to action for citizens to verify their details and ensure their franchise is secure for future elections.
