Preparations for the Mandi Municipal Corporation (MC) elections are in full swing as the administration has finalised 38 polling stations across 15 wards. The decision was taken to ensure smooth conduct of the polls, with adequate facilities for voters.
Polling Station Distribution
According to officials, the polling stations have been strategically located to cover all residential areas within the municipal limits. Each ward will have multiple booths to manage voter turnout efficiently. The breakdown of stations per ward is based on the number of registered voters, with larger wards having more polling booths.
Security and Arrangements
Security arrangements have been tightened at all polling stations. Adequate deployment of police personnel and paramilitary forces is planned to maintain law and order. The administration has also ensured that basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, and ramps for differently-abled voters are available at each location.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used across all stations, and officials have completed mock drills to check their functionality. The election commission has appointed presiding officers and polling staff for each booth, with training sessions conducted to handle any contingencies.
Voter Awareness Campaign
A voter awareness campaign is being carried out to encourage maximum participation. Pamphlets and announcements are being used to inform residents about their polling stations and the importance of voting. The administration has also set up a helpline number for voters to clarify doubts regarding their registration or polling location.
The elections are expected to witness a high voter turnout, with political parties intensifying their campaigns. The final list of candidates will be released after the scrutiny of nomination papers. The polling date is yet to be announced, but officials confirm that all arrangements will be in place well before the scheduled day.
