In an innovative approach to boost election preparedness, the Mathura district administration has announced spiritual and recreational rewards for block level officers who deliver exceptional performance during the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. Spiritual Motivation for Civic Duty
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh has proposed that BLOs achieving the highest results in digitizing voter data will be rewarded with VIP darshan at Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan along with a family lunch at Fun Land Park. This unconventional reward system introduces cultural and spiritual elements into the typically procedural task of election preparation.
Special situations require special solutions, Singh told media during the announcement. These measures are specifically designed to ease pressure on BLOs while providing meaningful motivation. The initiative recognizes the demanding nature of election-related fieldwork and seeks to make the process more rewarding for those on the front lines.
Comprehensive Reward Structure
The reward program extends beyond spiritual experiences. Top-performing block officers will also receive certificates of appreciation in recognition of their dedication. Meanwhile, student volunteers assisting with the enumeration process have their own incentives: free movie screenings and commemorative T-shirts for helping family members, neighbors, and residents complete enumeration forms.
During a meeting at Chatta tehsil auditorium, Singh outlined the ambitious daily target of completing and digitizing 40,000 enumeration forms. To ensure administrative commitment, the DM has personally pledged Rs 5,100 from his own salary to any sub-divisional magistrate or tehsildar who helps achieve this substantial daily goal.
Accountability and Progress
While emphasizing rewards, Singh also stressed the importance of discipline and accountability. He made it clear that any negligence or laxity in work would result in strict action against concerned officers and employees. This balanced approach combines motivation with responsibility to ensure the quality of work matches the quantity.
The district has already distributed more than 19 lakh forms covering over 99% of Mathura's voters, with the digitization process currently underway. This massive exercise represents one of the most comprehensive voter list revisions in recent times, with the administration employing creative methods to ensure its success.
