NDA Achieves Decisive Victory in Bihar Elections
Celebrations erupted across Patna as the National Democratic Alliance crossed the majority threshold in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. The political coalition established a commanding lead, leaving the opposition Mahagathbandhan far behind in the vote count that began at 8 AM on results day.
Jubilant Scenes at JD(U) Headquarters
What began as a cautious gathering of Janata Dal (United) workers transformed into a massive celebration as the scale of victory became apparent. The NDA was leading in 186 seats, completely overshadowing the Mahagathbandhan's mere 54 seats at the time of counting.
Videos from the JD(U) headquarters captured the festive atmosphere with workers bursting firecrackers, playing traditional drums, and smearing colorful gulaal on each other. The celebration included distribution of steaming jalebis and various sweets, while some enthusiastic supporters were seen blowing conch shells to mark the triumphant moment.
Fifth Victory for Nitish Kumar
A jubilant party worker told PTI, "Nitish ji ki paanchvi jeet likhi ja chuki hai... bas formalities baaki hain!" emphasizing that the Chief Minister's fifth electoral victory was essentially confirmed with only formalities remaining. In a particularly symbolic gesture, workers were seen 'feeding' sweets to a poster of JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, who is expected to continue as the NDA's chief ministerial candidate.
The JD(U), as a crucial constituent of the NDA, was itself leading in 76 seats – more than double the number of seats its main rival, the RJD, was managing to secure. This performance significantly strengthens Nitish Kumar's position within the alliance and state politics.
Leadership Hails Development Mandate
A JD(U) leader explained the victory to news agency PTI, stating, "This is a government of good governance. The people have once again voted for development. They have reposed their faith in the developmental work done under the leadership of the honourable Chief Minister, in the NDA under the leadership of respected Nitish Kumar ji and Prime Minister Modi ji."
The overwhelming victory margin validates the exit polls that had largely predicted an NDA win. The results demonstrate strong public support for the development agenda pursued by the ruling coalition, marking a significant political achievement for both state and national leadership.
