A scuffle erupted between the SFI district committee and the police on Wednesday during a protest march organized by the students' organization at the head post office in Kottayam. The demonstration was held against the leak of the NEET examination question paper.
Protest Details
The protest began around 12:30 pm. Police attempted to block the activists at MC Road, but the activists managed to bypass them and entered the office premises. During the scuffle, the gate in front of the business post centre was damaged. A section of the grill on the wall also fell after activists climbed over it.
Police Response
A police team was stationed in front of the business centre. Anticipating that the protest would proceed along Temple Road to the main office, the police rushed there. However, the protestors circled around and proceeded via Thirunakkara to the front of the business centre, forcing the police to rush back. Activists who climbed over the business centre's wall reached the main office entrance and began a blockade. Police later removed them by force.
This incident highlights the tension surrounding the NEET paper leak issue, which has sparked widespread protests across the state.
