The district administration of Sonipat on Monday finalised the arrangements for counting of votes for the Sonipat municipal corporation elections, which are scheduled to begin at 8 am on May 13 at BITS College, Mohana.
Randomisation Process for Counting Staff
The second randomisation process for counting staff was conducted under the supervision of district election officer and deputy commissioner Neha Singh. Officials stated that counting supervisors and assistants were deployed through randomisation to ensure transparency in the counting process.
Counting Tables and VVPAT Verification
According to the administration, 20 counting tables have been set up for the mayoral election and 15 for councillor vote counting. A separate table has also been designated for VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) verification, which adds an extra layer of security and transparency.
Training Sessions for Counting Personnel
Training sessions for counting personnel were held at the mini secretariat, where staff were briefed on EVM handling, counting procedures, and safety protocols. The training aimed to ensure that all personnel are well-prepared for the counting day.
Instructions from Deputy Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh directed all counting staff to report at the counting centre by 6 am on May 13. She strictly instructed them not to carry any electronic gadgets inside the premises to maintain the integrity of the counting process. Another round of training will be conducted at BITS College on May 12, officials added.
