Lucknow: Citing the alleged NEET paper leak, the Youth Congress and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday accused the Union government of failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations. Addressing a joint press conference at the Uttar Pradesh Congress office in Lucknow, Indian Youth Congress (central zone) acting president Ankit Tiwari and NSUI central zone president Anas Rahman claimed that the alleged leak had shattered the confidence of lakhs of students and parents across the country.
Allegations of Widespread Paper Leaks
Tiwari claimed that more than 80 recruitment and entrance examinations had been embroiled in paper leak controversies over the past decade, including police and lekhpal recruitment exams. He said, "The double-engine government has now become a paper leak industry," alleging that "paper mafias" were operating under political protection while students continued to suffer despite years of hard work.
Demand for Probe and Reforms
Rahman stated that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had completely lost its credibility and demanded a high-level and impartial probe into the alleged NEET paper leak. Congress leaders also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the dissolution of the NTA, and the formation of a new agency to ensure transparency and security in examinations. The leaders warned of an agitation if the government failed to address students' concerns.
