The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has urged the Haryana government to immediately rebuild all unsafe government school buildings and ensure uninterrupted education for students. In a statement issued on Tuesday, BSP Haryana president Dr Krishna Jamalpur expressed deep concern over the dilapidated condition of hundreds of school buildings across the state, warning that they endanger the lives and future of thousands of children.
135 Schools Declared Unsafe
According to media reports cited by Jamalpur, 135 government schools in Haryana have been officially declared unsafe. Of these, classes were being conducted in 49 schools until the Education Department intervened and stopped teaching there. The BSP leader alleged that this situation stems from negligence by the state government and the Education Department.
Jamalpur welcomed the Chief Minister's reported decision to halt classes in unsafe buildings but stressed that the government must make immediate alternative arrangements to prevent disruption of students' education. He called for damaged structures to be rebuilt on a priority basis.
Lack of Basic Facilities
The BSP state president also highlighted that many government schools lack essential facilities such as digital learning infrastructure, drinking water, toilets, and electricity. He demanded a time-bound plan to strengthen the education system across Haryana.
Demands for Action
Jamalpur put forward three key demands: first, rebuild all unsafe school buildings on a priority basis; second, make alternative arrangements for affected students; and third, conduct a comprehensive safety audit of all government schools in the state. He said the government's negligence has put students at risk and immediate corrective measures are needed.
