Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared that the Haryana government is committed to establishing the state as a world-class knowledge economy hub, with the education ecosystem being reshaped on the principles of ‘Re-design, Re-imagine and Re-invest’. Speaking at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) in Hisar on Sunday, Saini highlighted comprehensive reforms aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) implemented across state universities and affiliated colleges.
Projects worth Rs 7.58 crore inaugurated
Saini inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects totaling Rs 7.58 crore. These included the foundation stone for a girls’ hostel costing Rs 6 crore, the inauguration of the Nursing Department building constructed at Rs 1.40 crore to boost healthcare services and medical education, and the inauguration of the Khejarli Mahabalidan Smriti Shilp and Mata Amrita Devi Circle built at Rs 18 lakh. He also announced that the Nursing Block would be named after former Chief Minister Chaudhary Bhajan Lal.
Education reforms and research funding
The Chief Minister emphasized that higher education aims not just to award degrees but to build an ethical, sensitive, and aware society that is technologically competent while rooted in culture and committed to environmental conservation. He noted that the Haryana State Research Fund, established last year with an allocation of Rs 20 crore, received over 350 research proposals from teachers and students across the state during 2025-26, of which nearly 90 have been shortlisted. Saini announced an additional Rs 20 crore provided for the fund in the current financial year.
Skill development initiatives
Effective initiatives include the implementation of the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) in schools, the PAHAL Scheme in colleges, incubation centres in universities, and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with industries for skill training in technical institutions according to industry requirements. Under the Haryana Skill Development Mission, more than 1.56 lakh youth have received skill training, enabling them to become self-reliant.
