The pre-test exercise commenced on Monday across selected areas in two key districts of the southern state.

The pre-test is currently underway in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur districts, serving as a crucial testing ground before the mammoth nationwide census scheduled for 2024-25. This preliminary phase involves 69 dedicated officials who are rigorously testing the new digital methodology that will revolutionize how India counts its 1.4 billion population.
According to the Directorate of Census Operations, Kerala, the exercise will continue until June 30, providing valuable insights and technical feedback. The officials are utilizing a specialized mobile application to collect household data, completely eliminating the traditional paper-based approach that has characterized Indian censuses for decades.

The digital census pre-test encompasses multiple aspects of demographic documentation.
