In a significant push to digitize and streamline farmer records, the Patna district administration is conducting an intensive four-day campaign. District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M personally reviewed the progress of this special e-KYC and farmer ID registration drive, which is running from Tuesday to Friday this week.
Ambitious Targets and District-Wide Mobilization
The initiative spans across 322 panchayats in the district with a clear objective: to generate 12,000 unique farmer IDs by Thursday. To achieve this goal, a target of 500 registrations per block was set. Recognizing the scale of the task, DM Thiyagarajan directed field officials to intensify their outreach. He instructed them to mobilize the farming community through active measures like miking (public announcements) and comprehensive awareness campaigns to ensure maximum participation.
Required Documents and Recognition for Top Performers
For a smooth registration process, farmers are required to submit essential documents. The key papers needed include online land records (khatauni), Aadhaar cards, and registered mobile numbers. During the review, the District Magistrate took note of the blocks that demonstrated exceptional efficiency. He publicly praised the officials in Dhanarua, Phulwari, Pandarak, Naubatpur, and Mokama for their successful performance in driving registrations within their jurisdictions.
Accountability: Salaries Withheld in Lagging Blocks
However, the review also highlighted areas of concern. The DM adopted a strict stance on accountability for the slow pace of work in several blocks. As a consequential measure, the salaries of circle officers and agriculture officers in seven underperforming blocks have been withheld. The lagging blocks specifically identified include Danapur and Maner, among five others. This action underscores the administration's serious intent to meet the campaign's targets within the stipulated timeframe.
The special campaign represents a critical step in creating a verified database of farmers, which is essential for the effective delivery of various government schemes and subsidies. The contrasting outcomes—recognition for some and punitive action for others—highlight the district administration's focused approach to achieving its digital agriculture goals.
