Teenage Girl Fatally Shot by Boyfriend in Muzaffarpur District
A tragic incident unfolded in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar early Wednesday morning, where a 15-year-old girl was shot dead by her boyfriend. The accused, identified as 20-year-old Vikki Kumar, allegedly committed the crime after suspecting the victim of infidelity.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The horrifying event occurred at the girl's residence in the Sakra police station area of Muzaffarpur district. According to police reports, the accused had recently returned from Delhi about a week prior to the incident. During this period, he had been engaged in heated arguments with the victim over phone calls, repeatedly accusing her of speaking to another boy.
The victim was a Class IX student residing in Mansoorpur village within the Sakra police station jurisdiction. The accused lived approximately 100 metres away from her house, and the two had been in a relationship for approximately one year, frequently meeting during this period.
Background of the Relationship and Suspicion
Police investigation revealed that Vikki Kumar had traveled to Delhi for work several months earlier. Following his departure, the frequency of their meetings and phone conversations diminished significantly. During this separation, a friend informed Kumar that the girl had begun communicating with another boy, which allegedly fueled his suspicions.
Upon returning to Muzaffarpur approximately seven days before the incident, Kumar intensified his accusations against the girl. He repeatedly called her to meet outside, but she consistently refused his requests. This refusal reportedly escalated tensions between them.
The Night of the Crime
In the early hours of Wednesday, while the girl's family members were asleep, Kumar allegedly entered the residence stealthily. Family members reported that a wedding ceremony was taking place in the neighborhood at the time, with loud DJ music and songs playing throughout the night. This noise likely masked any sounds of the altercation or gunshot.
An argument ensued between Kumar and the victim, following which he shot her in the head with a pistol. After committing the crime, Kumar surrendered himself at the local police station.
Family Discovery and Police Response
The girl's mother described the horrifying discovery: "We were sleeping when we heard a knock by the police team on the main gate. When we woke up to open the gate, we found the girl lying in the courtyard. Her father initially thought she was unconscious, but she was found dead."
Police immediately sent the body to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for post-mortem examination. SDPO (East) Manoj Kumar Singh confirmed that the accused had confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Police Investigation and Recovery
SDPO Singh stated: "He admitted to killing the girl due to suspicion of cheating. The police recovered a pistol and a cartridge from the accused." The officer added that authorities would verify the exact age of the accused to determine whether he should be treated as a minor or adult under the law.
