According to police reports, Narayan Barik was employed at a garment showroom in Patrapada. The accident occurred around 1:30 pm as he was returning home for lunch. Police stated that a bus and a moped were traveling ahead of him towards Khurda. While attempting to overtake these vehicles, Narayan allegedly collided with the moped, lost control of his two-wheeler, and fell onto the road, where he was subsequently struck by the bus.
The impact of the collision caused severe head injuries, leading to his immediate death at the spot. The moped rider involved in the accident also sustained injuries and was admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar in critical condition.

Authorities reported that the bus driver fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the accident. Upon receiving information, Khandagiri police rushed to the location, recovered the body, and sent it to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for a post-mortem examination.
