Ahmedabad Rural Police detained at least 30 individuals following a violent clash between two groups in Kalana village near Sanand. The incident, which occurred on Monday night, began as a minor altercation between two motorcycle riders before spiraling into large-scale stone-pelting.
How a Minor Skirmish Escalated into Violence
The confrontation took place in the Sanand GIDC area on the evening of December 30, 2025. According to police officials, a dispute between two bikers acted as the initial spark. This seemingly small issue quickly drew in members from both sides, leading to a heated argument that soon turned physical. The groups began hurling stones at each other, creating a tense and volatile situation in the village.
Drone Technology Aids Police in Manhunt
Police teams rushed to the spot upon receiving information and managed to bring the immediate violence under control. However, as the police arrived, many individuals allegedly involved in the stone-pelting fled the scene. A significant number of them sought refuge in the vast, adjoining agricultural fields, making traditional pursuit difficult.
To tackle this challenge, the Ahmedabad Rural Police deployed a drone for aerial surveillance. The eye in the sky proved instrumental in locating the suspects hiding among the crops. This technological intervention allowed the police teams to apprehend multiple persons who had attempted to evade capture.
Legal Action and Assurance of Order
Superintendent of Police (Ahmedabad Rural) Om Prakash Jat provided details on the legal steps taken. First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against both groups under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges for unlawful assembly and rioting. A total of 42 persons were eventually detained for questioning.
"Legal action is being taken based on their role in the incident," stated SP Jat. He also offered reassurance regarding the aftermath, confirming that no serious injuries, fatalities, or large-scale property damage were reported. To prevent any further flare-up, the police have made adequate deployments in the area and are maintaining strict vigilance.
The investigation into the precise sequence of events and the roles of all involved is currently ongoing.
