A nine-year-old boy who had been missing since Thursday was discovered murdered in agricultural fields near Ludhiana's Qasabad village on Saturday, according to police officials. The victim, identified as Aman, was found with his throat slit in a brutal killing that has shocked the local community.
Family's Harrowing Experience with Police Stations
The grieving family, originally from Uttar Pradesh and living on rent in Ludhiana's Anmol Colony, has made serious allegations against local law enforcement. They claim they were subjected to harassment and forced to run between multiple police stations while attempting to file a missing person report for their son.
"We looked for him everywhere but he wasn't found," said Sunny Verma, a relative of the family. "We then went to Basti Jodhewal police station and they said the area wasn't under their jurisdiction. We were sent to Salem Tabri police station... further sent to Meharban police station. For two days, police had no idea about the jurisdiction of the crime."
Delayed FIR Registration and Recovery
The First Information Report for the missing boy was finally registered at Salem Tabri police station around 3:00 AM on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, but only after intervention from a senior police officer. This delay of approximately two days occurred despite the family's immediate reporting of the disappearance.
On Saturday morning, the boy's body was recovered from fields located just a few meters away from where his family resided. According to the grandfather's complaint, Ram Prasad (a gardener by profession) stated that Aman was playing outside their accommodation on Thursday when he went missing around 4:30 PM.
Police Response and Investigation Details
Additional DCP-1 Sameer Verma confirmed the gruesome nature of the crime, stating: "Prima facie, it is a murder. We have traced some CCTV clippings in which the boy is visible. The accused will be identified and arrested soon."
When questioned about the delayed FIR registration, the ADCP explained: "The family first went to Basti Jodhewal police station and the area wasn't under their jurisdiction. We registered the FIR immediately after they came to Salem Tabri police station." He further confirmed that murder charges have been added to the FIR.
