ACB Arrests Data Entry Operator in Patan for Accepting Bribe to Process Birth Certificate
In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended an outsourced data entry operator stationed at the mamlatdar office in Varahi, located within Patan district. The individual was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 7,000, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat corruption in administrative processes.
Details of the Bribery Case
The accused, identified as Mahesh Kumar, also known as Mukesh Parmar, was employed in the ATVT branch of the mamlatdar office. According to ACB officials, he had illicitly demanded money from a complainant to facilitate the issuance of an official order from the mamlatdar. This order was necessary for obtaining a duplicate birth certificate for the complainant's nephew, a routine administrative task that should not involve any monetary demands beyond official fees.
Unwilling to comply with this corrupt demand, the complainant took a stand against the malpractice by reaching out to the Patan ACB. Demonstrating proactive measures, the ACB team swiftly organized a trap to catch the operator in the act.
Execution of the ACB Trap
The trap was meticulously planned and carried out at a tea stall situated just outside the mamlatdar office. Under the supervision of Police Inspector M J Chaudhary from the ACB police station in Patan, the operation led to the successful apprehension of Mahesh Kumar as he accepted the bribe money. This incident underscores the ACB's commitment to rooting out corruption at the grassroots level, particularly in government offices where such unethical practices can hinder public services.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced in ensuring transparency and integrity in administrative functions. It also highlights the importance of public cooperation in reporting such incidents, as demonstrated by the complainant's courage in approaching the authorities.
The ACB's actions in Patan district are part of broader initiatives to strengthen governance and uphold the rule of law, aiming to create a more accountable and corruption-free environment for citizens.
