A shocking incident of violence has rocked the Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad, where a 30-year-old transport businessman was brutally attacked with swords and sharp-edged weapons on a public road late Saturday night. The attack, which police confirm is linked to a family dispute over an elopement, has left the victim fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of Shardaben Hospital.

According to Bapunagar police officials, the victim filed a formal complaint on Sunday, with details emerging publicly on Friday. Authorities have registered a First Information Report under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing grievous hurt, criminal intimidation, and abuse. Approximately one month prior to the attack, the complainant's brother-in-law allegedly left the area together with a neighbor's wife by mutual consent, with both individuals remaining untraceable since their disappearance.
The missing woman's husband reportedly began pressuring both the transport businessman and his father-in-law to locate the missing couple. According to the complaint, both men faced repeated threats and intimidation regarding the elopement situation in the weeks leading up to the violent attack.
Details of the Brutal Assault
The attack unfolded on Saturday night when the businessman stepped out of his residence. He was intercepted on the road by two men traveling on a motorcycle who allegedly demanded information about the missing couple. When an argument ensued, the victim was reportedly abused and restrained from behind.
The situation escalated dramatically when a third assailant arrived at the scene in an auto-rickshaw. According to the complaint, one attacker produced a sword and slashed the victim below the knees on both legs. As the businessman fell to the ground, he sustained additional injuries while attempting to defend himself, including a severe cut between his fingers and thumb.
The attackers allegedly continued their assault by stabbing the victim multiple times in both lower legs with a sharp weapon and beating him with a wooden stick, including a direct blow to his palm. Before fleeing the scene, the assailants reportedly issued death threats against both the victim and his family members.
