Ahmedabad Woman Allegedly Killed by Stepson in Brutal Money Dispute

In a shocking incident from Ahmedabad, a woman was allegedly killed by her stepson after she refused to give him money for a property-related matter. The accused, identified as Devendra Chunara, has been arrested by the Anandnagar police following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's daughter.

Complaint Details Reveal Troubling Family Dynamics

According to the police complaint filed by Gita, aged 27, she had been residing with her mother, Kapila Chunara, near Ropda Lake in Anandnagar since her husband's tragic death in March of last year. The complaint outlines a distressing pattern of behavior from the accused, Devendra Chunara, who is the son of Kapila's second husband, Mukesh Dantani.

Gita stated in her official complaint that after the passing of her husband and elder brother, Devendra began to frequently engage in arguments with Kapila, persistently demanding money from her. The primary reason cited for these demands was to secure funds necessary for redeeming a mortgaged house located in Makarba.

The Fatal Night of the Alleged Attack

The complaint provides a detailed account of the events that unfolded on Friday night around 10 PM. Devendra reportedly visited Kapila's residence and once again demanded money, specifically to facilitate the release of the mortgaged property in Makarba. This demand quickly escalated into a heated argument between the two.

During the altercation, Devendra allegedly attacked Kapila with a wooden stick, striking her multiple times on the head and various other parts of her body. The commotion attracted the attention of neighbors, who rushed to the scene only to find Kapila bleeding profusely from her injuries.

Immediate Response and Tragic Outcome

Mukesh Dantani, Kapila's second husband, arrived at the location shortly after the incident and promptly called emergency services. Kapila was swiftly transported to Sola Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, doctors at the hospital declared her dead upon arrival, marking a tragic end to the violent confrontation.

Background of Family Tensions and Relocation

The complaint further reveals that Gita had previously lived with her mother before her husband's death. However, due to increasing frustration and concern over Devendra's aggressive behavior, she decided to move to a nearby rented house to distance herself from the ongoing family tensions. Following the loss of her husband, Gita returned to live with her mother, only to witness this horrific event unfold.

This case highlights the severe consequences of domestic disputes over financial matters and property, underscoring the need for vigilance and intervention in such situations to prevent tragic outcomes.
