Aligarh Police Arrests Youth Leader Over Viral Inflammatory Video at Bose Statue

In a significant development, the Aligarh police have taken swift action by arresting the district president of the youth wing of Karni Sena and sending him to jail. This decisive move came after a video, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms, showed the leader making highly inflammatory remarks while garlanding a statue of the revered freedom fighter, Subhash Chandra Bose.

Republic Day Incident Sparks Outrage and Legal Action

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Republic Day during a program specifically organized to honor Subhash Chandra Bose in the Civil Lines police station area of Aligarh. The video footage, which has drawn sharp criticism from the online community, depicts the leader holding a sword and twisting his moustache in a provocative manner. More alarmingly, he is seen distorting Bose's famous slogan by making derogatory statements aimed at a particular community, actions that have fueled widespread public anger and prompted immediate police intervention.

Legal Framework and Police Investigation

Taking suo motu cognisance of the viral video, the police diligently verified its authenticity before registering a formal case. The complaint was filed by a Sub-Inspector (SI) under specific legal provisions, including BNS section 196(1), which addresses promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds, and section 351 for criminal intimidation. Additionally, relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act were invoked to address the digital dissemination of the content.

In the official complaint, the SI elaborated on the findings, stating, "Upon further investigation, it was found that the man was Sachin Raghav, district president of Yuva Karni Sena, Aligarh. Due to this act, there is widespread public anger against him. The act was committed with the intention of spreading animosity and social hostility between different groups based on religion. Therefore, I request that a case be registered against him and appropriate legal action be taken."

Ongoing Probe and Community Impact

Civil Lines Station House Officer (SHO) Vinod Kumar has confirmed that further investigation is currently underway. The primary focus is to ascertain the precise intent behind both the creation of the video and its subsequent circulation on social media. This case highlights the growing concerns over hate speech and its potential to disrupt social harmony, especially when linked to national icons like Subhash Chandra Bose.

The arrest underscores the authorities' commitment to maintaining law and order, particularly in sensitive situations involving religious or communal sentiments. As the investigation progresses, it serves as a reminder of the legal repercussions for actions that threaten public peace and national unity.
