Notorious Baap-Beta Gang Duo Presented in Bengaluru Court After Bihar STF Arrest

Two of Bihar's most wanted criminals, Manoj Singh and Manik Singh, were produced before a Bengaluru court on Wednesday following their dramatic arrest by a special team of the Bihar Special Task Force (STF). The father-son duo, infamous as members of the notorious 'Baap-Beta gang' operating from the state capital Patna, had been evading law enforcement agencies across multiple states for years.

High-Value Arrests with Substantial Rewards

The Bihar STF executed a meticulously planned operation in Bengaluru on Tuesday, apprehending both criminals who carried substantial rewards on their heads. Manoj Singh had a bounty of Rs 3 lakh, while his son Manik Singh carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to their capture. This successful operation represents a significant breakthrough for law enforcement agencies that had been pursuing the duo across state borders.

Extensive Criminal History Across Multiple States

Police investigations reveal that the father-son team faces accusations in more than 40 serious criminal cases spanning several jurisdictions. Their alleged crimes include multiple counts of murder, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, extortion, and violations under the Arms Act. The duo had established a widespread network of criminal activities that extended beyond Bihar to neighboring states including Jharkhand and Odisha, making them interstate fugitives with multiple warrants issued against them.

Bengaluru Hideout and Evidence Recovery

After intensifying operations against their criminal network, the Bihar STF tracked the fugitives to Bengaluru, where they had been hiding to avoid arrest. During the arrest procedure, police recovered substantial evidence from their possession, including Rs 11,290 in cash, a gold necklace, eight internet dongles, nine smartphones, and eight keypad mobile phones. The technological equipment suggests the criminals maintained active communication networks even while on the run.

Coordinated Police Presence and Gang Disruption

The court presentation saw coordinated police presence with SHOs of Naubatpur and Danapur—Sanjit Kumar and Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj respectively—attending the proceedings. This inter-district coordination underscores the significance of the arrests. The STF's intensified crackdown on the Baap-Beta gang has already resulted in the earlier arrest of eight associates, systematically dismantling the criminal network's operational capabilities.

Interstate Manhunt Concludes

The arrest concludes an extensive interstate manhunt that had stretched law enforcement resources across Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and finally Karnataka. The successful operation demonstrates improved inter-state police coordination and intelligence sharing mechanisms that enabled tracking the fugitives to their Bengaluru hideout. The Baap-Beta gang's operations, which had terrorized communities across multiple states, now face significant disruption with the core leadership in custody.

Legal proceedings will now determine the next steps for the accused, who face multiple serious charges across different jurisdictions. The Bihar STF's successful operation marks a crucial victory in the ongoing battle against organized crime networks operating across state boundaries in eastern India.
