Ballari Woman Livestreams Suicide, Blames Relative in Viral Video
Ballari woman's live-streamed suicide shocks Karnataka

A shocking incident in Karnataka's Ballari district has highlighted a tragic case of alleged harassment leading to suicide. A 23-year-old woman, a mother of two, livestreamed her own death on Sunday, directly blaming a man for the injustice she faced.

The Tragic Livestream and Allegations

According to the Gandhinagar police, the woman, identified as Munni, hanged herself from a ceiling fan while broadcasting the act live. Before taking the extreme step, she recorded a video expressing her profound pain and suffering. In the harrowing footage, Munni, who was divorced and had been living alone for six months after a four-year marriage, pointed fingers at her relative, Mohammed Sheikhshavali.

Munni stated in the video, "Everything is happening because of him. He is preventing me from living. He will find joy in my death." She further accused Sheikhshavali, along with his wife and mother, of collective torment. "They arrived at my home in an auto and assaulted me. They gagged me with a cloth and hurled insults at me," she alleged.

Police Investigation and Family's Anguish

The viral video quickly drew the attention of the authorities. The Gandhinagar police have registered a case and sent Munni's body for a postmortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest that animosity in her new relationship with Sheikhshavali drove her to take her own life.

Munni's family has squarely blamed Mohammed Sheikhshavali for her death. Her brother, Imam, informed reporters that Munni worked at a beauty salon and had intentions to remarry. He held Sheikhshavali responsible for the unfortunate outcome. The accused, Sheikhshavali, is currently absconding, and a manhunt is underway.

Ongoing Probe and Political Attention

The police have seized Munni's mobile phone, which she used to film the suicide. The investigation is now focused on several critical angles:

  • Determining if Munni was subjected to sustained mental harassment.
  • Investigating whether she was deceived or cheated.
  • Unraveling the details of the personal dispute that led to this extreme step.

The case has garnered significant local attention, prompting MLA Nara Bharat Reddy to visit the Gandhinagar police station to inquire about the incident and the progress of the investigation. The community awaits justice as the probe continues to uncover the full sequence of events that led to this heartbreaking tragedy.
