Bathinda Mother Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Her Two Young Children to Death
In a deeply disturbing incident from Bathinda, a woman has been accused of murdering her own children by administering rat poison in their food over a period of several weeks. The accused, identified as Jassi Kaur, who is in her mid-30s and has been married for nearly a decade, was taken into custody on Saturday after she confessed to the heinous crimes, according to Rampura Phool DSP Manoj Kumar.
Family's Initial Ignorance Turns to Suspicion After Second Tragic Death
DSP Manoj Kumar revealed that the family initially believed the death of their eight-year-old daughter, Sukhpreet Kaur, two weeks ago was due to a stomach infection, with no suspicion of foul play. However, when their six-year-old son, Fatehveer Singh, passed away on Friday night exhibiting similar symptoms, the father, Budh Singh, grew alarmed and immediately alerted the police. This swift action led to the uncovering of a chilling conspiracy.
Confession Reveals Involvement of Paramour and Sister in Murder Plot
During interrogation, Jassi Kaur admitted to plotting the murders with her paramour, Lakhi Singh, a resident of Mehal Kalan in Barnala district, and her sister, Mota Kaur. Police have arrested both Jassi and Mota, while Lakhi Singh remains absconding, with efforts underway to apprehend him. The investigation has exposed a web of deceit and betrayal within the family.
Father's Heartbreaking Account of Suspicions and Silence
In his official complaint, Budh Singh, a labourer, shared that he had long suspected his wife of being involved in an illicit relationship but chose to remain silent for the sake of their children. He stated, "When my daughter died, I had no idea about the conspiracy behind it. But when my son died in a similar manner within 14 days, I became suspicious." His suspicions ultimately prompted the police intervention that led to the arrests.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
A murder case has been formally registered against Jassi Kaur, Mota Kaur, and Lakhi Singh at the Rampura Phool police station. The postmortem examinations of the children are scheduled for Sunday, which are expected to provide further evidence in this tragic case. Authorities are continuing their investigation to gather all necessary details and ensure justice is served for the young victims.
