Beed Police Make Swift Arrests in Murder Case Over Grazing Land Dispute
In a rapid response operation, the Gevrai police in Beed district have arrested two individuals within just six hours of registering a murder case connected to a violent dispute over gairan (grazing) land bunding. The incident, which resulted in the death of a local farmer, highlights the escalating tensions surrounding land issues in rural areas.
Details of the Arrest and Accused
The accused have been identified as Madhukar Shinde and Manohar Shinde, both residents of Mangar Tanda. Police registered an offence under sections 103(1), 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, reflecting the severity of the crime.
Background of the Case
The case came to light after complainant Papesh, alias Guddaya Arjun Mali (31), a farmer from Ram Nagar Tanda in Gevrai taluka, approached the police on Sunday. He lodged a complaint stating that his father, Arjun Mali, had gone to inspect a gairan land parcel in Gondgaon on April 11 around 5 pm. A dispute reportedly broke out over the bunding of the land, which quickly escalated into a violent assault on his father.
Victim's Condition and Police Investigation
Inspector Kishore Pawar provided details on the victim's condition, noting that he sustained severe injuries in the attack. Initially, he was administered primary treatment before being shifted to a government hospital for advanced care. Tragically, doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Beed SP Navneet Kanwat emphasized the seriousness of the offence, stating, "Considering the seriousness of the offence, multiple teams were immediately formed and dispatched to different districts. The accused had switched off their mobile phones to evade arrest, but our teams tracked them through technical and human intelligence."
Swift Police Action and Arrest
Acting on a specific tip-off, police located the accused in the Barshi Naka area of Beed city, where they were allegedly attempting to flee. This swift action underscores the efficiency of the police force in handling critical cases and preventing further evasion by the suspects.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for violence in land disputes, particularly in agricultural communities where resources like grazing land are highly contested. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the assault and the motives behind the attack.
