Tragic Discovery in Bihar: Four Bengaluru Family Members Found Dead in Locked Dharamshala
In a shocking incident, four members of a family from Bengaluru were discovered deceased inside a dharamshala in Bihar's Nalanda district on Friday. The police have indicated a preliminary assessment pointing towards a suspected case of suicide, with the room locked from the inside and no alternative exit available.
Victims Identified and Circumstances of the Discovery
The deceased have been identified as G R Nagaprasad, aged 50, his elderly mother G R Sumangala, 78, and his two sisters, Shilpa, 48, and Shrutha, 43. All were residents of the Soladevanahalli area on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The grim discovery was made at the Digambar Jain Dharamshala located in Rajgir, Nalanda.
The incident came to light around 9:30 AM on Friday when staff at the dharamshala alerted local authorities about a foul smell emanating from one of the rooms. Upon arrival, the police forced open the door to find the four bodies inside. Preliminary investigations suggest that the deaths may have occurred at least two days prior to the discovery.
Police Investigation and Coordination Efforts
Bharat Soni, the District Superintendent of Police for Nalanda, stated that while the initial evidence indicates suicide, all possible angles are being thoroughly examined. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. However, we are leaving no stone unturned in our investigation," he emphasized.
Identification of the victims was facilitated through documents found at the scene, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and ATM cards, which confirmed their Karnataka residency. The Nalanda police have established contact with their counterparts in the Soladevanahalli police station limits in Bengaluru to gather additional background information on the family. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and a forensic team is currently scrutinizing the scene for further clues.
Disturbing Background: Prior Murder Case Involving Nagaprasad
Adding a layer of complexity to this tragedy, Nagaprasad was previously accused of a heinous crime. In August of last year, he was alleged to have murdered his 14-year-old nephew, Amogh Keerthi, in north Bengaluru. According to police reports, the teenager, who was addicted to the online game Free Fire, frequently demanded money from his uncle.
Amogh had been residing with Nagaprasad for nearly 11 months following his mother Shilpa's separation from her husband. The situation escalated on August 4, when a heated argument over money led Nagaprasad to allegedly kill the boy while he was asleep. After the incident, Nagaprasad reportedly attempted suicide but survived. He then stayed near Majestic for three days before surrendering at the Soladevanahalli police station on August 7. He was subsequently arrested, remanded in judicial custody, and later released on bail.

The Nalanda police are diligently working to piece together the events leading up to this tragic outcome. The coordination with Bengaluru authorities aims to uncover any underlying motives or pressures that might have contributed to this suspected mass suicide.
