In a shocking development in Bengaluru, the body of a scrap dealer was exhumed from a graveyard on Saturday following suspicions of murder. The family of the deceased had alleged foul play, prompting the police to take action.
Background of the Case
The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Ramesh, was a scrap dealer residing in the Peenya area of Bengaluru. He was reportedly found dead under mysterious circumstances on June 15. Initially, the death was treated as a natural one, and the body was buried after a post-mortem at a government hospital.
Family's Allegations
However, Ramesh's family members were not convinced with the post-mortem report. They claimed that he had been murdered and demanded a re-investigation. Following their persistent complaints, the Peenya police registered a case of suspicious death and sought permission from the jurisdictional magistrate to exhume the body.
On Saturday, the exhumation was carried out in the presence of a team of doctors, police officials, and the family members. The remains have been sent for a detailed forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
Police Investigation
Senior police officers have assured that the investigation will be thorough and transparent. They are exploring multiple angles, including possible enmity and financial disputes. The scrap dealer's family has been cooperative, providing information about his acquaintances and business dealings.
Speaking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) said, "We are treating this case with utmost seriousness. The exhumation was conducted legally, and we are awaiting the forensic report. Any foul play will be brought to light."
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing concern over the safety of small-time traders. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
