Bengaluru Tycoon's Death: Police Deny I-T Officials Grilled Roy

Bengaluru Real Estate Tycoon's Death Investigation Takes Intriguing Turn

The investigation into the tragic death of Confident Group chairman CJ Roy has taken a significant development as Bengaluru police have clarified crucial details about the circumstances preceding his apparent suicide. The prominent real estate magnate was found dead from a gunshot wound at his company headquarters in Langford Town on Friday.

Police Clarify Income Tax Officials' Role

Contrary to initial speculation, police sources have confirmed that income tax officials from Kerala did not subject Roy to intense questioning or confrontation minutes before his death. Authorities maintain that the Friday visit by I-T officials was not a raid but rather a procedural meeting to finalize documentation related to earlier investigations.

"The I-T officials wanted to finalize their report before February 3 and required some clarifications from Roy," a police source revealed. "They also needed a formal statement from him regarding documents prepared during December raids."

According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigations, the tax officials were actually huddled in a separate conference room while Roy proceeded to his private chamber with the company's managing director TA Joseph. There was reportedly no verbal argument or direct confrontation between Roy and the visiting officials.

Medical Examination Reveals Critical Details

Doctors from Bowring Hospital who conducted the autopsy on Saturday provided crucial forensic evidence about Roy's death. Medical superintendent Dr. MN Aravind confirmed that a single 6.35mm bullet caused the fatal injury.

"The bullet entered through the left side of the chest, causing extensive damage to the heart and stomach before stopping near the ribs in the back," Dr. Aravind explained. "The projectile did not exit his body, and we found no other injuries during examination."

The medical team has drawn blood samples and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for DNA analysis and further testing. Forensic experts are also examining Roy's right hand for gunpowder residue, as preliminary evidence suggests he held the pistol in that hand.

Weapon Identification and Investigation Progress

Police investigators have identified the weapon used in the incident as an Austria-made pistol. While CCTV footage from the Confident Pentagon building has not been made public, authorities continue to examine all available evidence to reconstruct the exact sequence of events.

The investigation team is pursuing multiple angles, including:

  • Forensic analysis of the weapon and ballistic evidence
  • Examination of financial documents and I-T proceedings
  • Interviews with company staff and family members
  • Psychological assessment of circumstances leading to the incident

As the probe continues, Bengaluru police emphasize their commitment to uncovering the complete truth behind this tragic incident that has shocked the city's business community.
