He emphasized that there is no organized child-lifting gang operating in Bettiah or West Champaran, making such acts of violence particularly unjust and alarming. “Rumours have led to attacks on blameless individuals, which is extremely serious and legally punishable under the law,” he stated, urging the community to rely solely on verified information from official sources.
The police chief detailed one specific case where a recently viral video was traced back to an unrelated incident but was falsely circulated as an attempted child abduction. This misleading clip has since been removed from social media platforms to prevent further panic. “We are treating all information related to child abduction with the utmost seriousness and are meticulously verifying every complaint that comes our way,” SP Suman added, reassuring the public that previous cases of missing minors are also being actively processed and investigated.
