Bomb Threats Trigger Panic and Evacuations at Lucknow and Agra Courts

Panic gripped court complexes in Lucknow and Agra on Tuesday as both locations received bomb threats via email, leading to large-scale evacuations and intensive security searches. Police confirmed that no suspicious objects were discovered at either site after thorough inspections. This alarming incident highlights a concerning pattern of threats targeting judicial facilities in the region.

Third Threat in Ten Days for Lucknow, First for Agra

The latest alert represents the third bomb threat aimed at the Lucknow court within the past ten days, while this marks the first such report from Agra during the recent spate of threats. In Lucknow, previous threats were received via email on February 13 and February 16, indicating a persistent pattern of disruption. Officials noted that the threat email was delivered to the district judge in Lucknow around 1 pm, prompting immediate action.

Comprehensive Search Operations Launched

Following the threat, police swiftly evacuated the premises in Lucknow and initiated a comprehensive search operation that lasted nearly three to four hours. DCP of the West zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava, stated that multiple teams, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, meticulously scanned the entire court complex. Parking areas and two-wheeler stands were also thoroughly inspected to ensure no explosives were present.

Simultaneously, a similar threat email was received at the civil court complex in Agra, resulting in an immediate suspension of judicial work and evacuation. ADCP Akshay Mahadik reported that all entry and exit gates of the Agra court were sealed, and a detailed search was conducted by police, bomb disposal squads, and special security units.

No Suspicious Items Found, Investigation Ongoing

"Nothing suspicious has been seized so far. However, all agencies remain on high alert, and efforts are actively underway to trace the origin of the email," Mahadik emphasized. The coordinated response underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating these threats, despite the lack of physical evidence.

Recent Arrest in Related Hoax Case

In a related development, police announced the arrest of one Vishal Ranjan from Azamgarh on Sunday for sending a hoax email claiming bombs were planted in the Jaunpur court. This arrest highlights ongoing efforts to combat such malicious activities and deter future incidents. The recurrence of threats raises concerns about security vulnerabilities and the need for enhanced measures to protect public institutions.

The incidents have disrupted court proceedings and caused significant anxiety among legal professionals and the public. Authorities continue to investigate the source of the emails, urging vigilance and cooperation to prevent similar threats in the future.
