Bulandshahr Gang-Rape: Teen Abducted from Holi Festival, Assaulted in Parked Car

A horrific incident of sexual violence has shaken Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from a Holi festival and gang-raped in a car parked near agricultural fields. The crime occurred on Wednesday evening, casting a dark shadow over the festive celebrations.

Abduction Amidst Festive Revelry

According to police reports and the First Information Report (FIR), the victim, a Class 11 student, attended the village Holi festival with her sister-in-law. Amid the loud music and crowds, four men—reportedly known to the girl and from a neighboring village—forcibly took her to a nearby field. The teen later told authorities that she repeatedly pleaded for mercy, but her cries for help were drowned out by the festival's noise.

Brutal Assault in Stationary Vehicle

The FIR details that the accused, who were allegedly intoxicated, took turns sexually assaulting the minor inside a stationary car. After the brutal attack, they abandoned her in an unconscious and critical condition in the field. Her family later discovered her there and rushed her for medical attention.

Circle Officer Bhaskar Mishra confirmed, "An FIR has been registered against three identified and one unidentified individual under BNS section 70(1) for gang-rape, along with sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Three of the accused have been apprehended, and the victim was sent for medical examination. Her health condition is currently stable."

Family's Anguish and Community Outrage

The victim's uncle expressed profound distress, stating, "The accused were drunk and from our neighboring village. My niece is severely traumatized, and it will be extremely difficult for her to ever recover from this heinous assault. We demand the harshest punishment for the culprits."

In response to the incident, the family and local villagers organized a protest on Thursday. They blocked the Bulandshahr road, voicing allegations of police negligence and demanding swift justice. The community's outrage underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures during public gatherings.

Legal and Medical Proceedings Underway

The case highlights critical issues of women's safety and law enforcement responsiveness in rural areas. With the FIR filed and three suspects in custody, authorities are intensifying efforts to locate the fourth accused. The medical tests conducted on the victim will play a crucial role in the legal proceedings, as evidence under the POCSO Act, which mandates stringent penalties for crimes against minors.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young women during festivals and the imperative for robust preventive measures. As the investigation progresses, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the survivor and preventing such atrocities in the future.
