Chandigarh Businessman Robbed at Gunpoint, Then Arrested in Separate Dacoity Case
Chandigarh businessman robbed, then arrested in dacoity case

In a dramatic sequence of events that unfolded in Chandigarh, a local businessman found himself on both sides of the law within hours - first as a victim of armed robbery, and later as an accused in a separate criminal case.

The Terrifying Robbery Incident

According to police reports, the businessman was traveling in his vehicle when he was intercepted by four armed assailants near the Kajheri bridge area. The perpetrators, brandishing weapons, allegedly robbed him of cash amounting to ₹3 lakh along with other valuable items before making their escape.

The victim immediately filed a complaint with the local police station, initiating an investigation into the armed robbery case. Preliminary investigations suggested the robbers might have been tracking the businessman's movements.

Unexpected Turn of Events

However, the plot thickened when during the course of the robbery investigation, police discovered the businessman's potential involvement in a separate dacoity case registered at the Sector 31 police station. This revelation came through technical surveillance and intelligence gathering by the UT police.

"While investigating the robbery complaint, we developed information about his involvement in another serious case," stated a senior police official familiar with both investigations.

Dual Police Action

The police have registered two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with these incidents:

  • FIR under sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death/hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code for the robbery case
  • FIR in the older dacoity case where the businessman is now being treated as an accused

Investigators are now working to determine if there are any connections between the two cases or if the timing is merely coincidental.

Ongoing Investigation

Police teams are actively pursuing multiple angles in both cases. The robbery investigation team is scanning CCTV footage from the area and conducting raids to identify and apprehend the four armed assailants.

Simultaneously, the investigation into the businessman's alleged involvement in the dacoity case continues, with authorities examining evidence and witness statements to establish the extent of his involvement.

The case has drawn significant attention to criminal activities targeting business professionals in the region and highlights the complex nature of criminal investigations where victims and perpetrators can sometimes overlap.
